Job Summary

This position involves work bioinformatics functions and activities in the company.

Functions and Responsibilities

1. Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and testing of biocomputing tools and bioinformatics systems.
2. Work with a software development team to design and develop computational tools and algorithms to analyze genomic databases, and develop bioinformatics testing tools.
3. Develop tools and algorithms for data mining from a range of on-line and local databases that hold gene mapping, sequence and literature information, and develop programs that present this material in a range of formats.
4. Survey the existing bioinformatics markets for software products and tools, and develop competitive analysis of those products.
5. Contribute to R&D operations related to the above.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Experience with bioinformatics tools and concepts (BLAST, clustalw, alignments tools, etc) a definite plus.
2. Critical thinking, problem solving abilities, and the ability to work independently are a must.
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and employees.
4. Proactive, energetic with strong organizational and collaborative skills.
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Education, Training and Experience

1. B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Bioinformatics or Biotechnology, biologists with a strong background in quantitative genetics.
